N20 Overhaul Manual

Had the infamous timing chain failure on the N20. Where can you find a service manual for this engine? Evidently Bentley does not make a service manual for 2012 528i's. Thank You, Eric

If the timing chain failed completely, then you need a new engine. There will be bits of metal and debris distributed all throughout your engine and oiling system. Check your oil filter and see for yourself.

Thanks, pulled motor (because of everything i've read, same as white94rx says), but chain is still in one piece and doesn't look bad. obviously must have jumped some teeth, but they don't look bad either. didn't look at filter, but definitely will. what about service manual? where can you get one?

If you are only interested in a manual for fixing the engine. You can buy the F30 3 series manual from Bentley. F30 328i also used the N20 engine.
