Hello all,
I am looking at a 2015 328xi at a used car dealership. Started the car, but did not drive it as I was just stopping to take a look, and it blew a decent amount of blue smoke(burning oil) when it started. Did research and found out about the turbo oil feed line update with the ball bearing. But also saw that some people needed turbo replacement as well. Are there any known symptoms during driving I can look for/try to recreate during a test drive to determine if it is just from the oil line and the car sitting for so long, or if that turbo is going to need to be replaced?
Is the oil feed line something that is still covered by BMW?
Thanks in advance!
Also off-topic, is adding a HUD fairly easy?

Unless that car is stupid cheap, walk away not worth the bother.
Yes you can add a HUD to the car, and again it's a bit of a PITA as you would have to be pretty handy with electronics and would have to add it to the VO otherwise I don't think it would work.

If you want HUD, then find a car with it already. I doubt it would be worth the time/effort/money to try and retrofit it. If it is even possible. New dashboard, new windshield (yes, they are different), the HUD unit, who knows if the wiring is even there to connect it (doubtful).
BMW did extend the warranty on the turbo feed line, but there is an expiration date and mileage. The only way to check would be to post the last seven digits of the VIN number and check the DCS.
