nobody wants to pay what a well-sorted turbo e36 is worth, so owners dont want to sell to lowballers.
not many cars out there that are as good for the money as a well-sorted, boosted e36.

So true m3j0n. I lost track of how much money and time is in my ti. I had it for sale once at like 14 or 15k. Way less than I had in to it. It is the first BMW I bought. Now, it sits in the corner of the garage in front of the turbo e46 m3.
One of my employees is German and will be going back home for school. We talked about starting a business at the ring, renting cars... or something of the like. If that happens, I'll send the ti to Germany to live it's days on the Nordschleife. Seems like a fitting end for that car (and me?)

I sold mine when I sold a clutch and the buyer's friend wanted my M3, but looking back, I should have kept it.. clean E36 M3 are hard to find, sold mine for less than the mods costs me.. I was supposed to buy a super clean low miles supercharged E46 M3, but it seem that now we have regional laws that make impossible to register a non 100% stock car in Quebec..
in short, I think you have better chances with friends/contacts then online..

The truth. 👍🏼

at the same time, it cost 15-20k to build a turbo E36 with a good kit like CES motorsport, not including the car, and on the other hand F80 are getting cheaper and get over 500WHP without putting a ton of money on it.. that's probably my next step if I can't find a good deal on a built E36 or E46 M3..
I've been feeling the same way for a while. I love my E36 M3 and its been one hell of a journey....but I'm feeling like I'm too old for this car/setup/style and should sell it and move onto something else...911, newer M3 kind of thing.
But, I don't think I could get anywhere near what I want and the market for such a car is probably tiny. Doubt anyone wants to take out a car loan, or bank will give out a loan for a 20+ year car that isn't a collectible.

How old are you BMWManiac? I'm in my early 40's now and find the need for speed has not diminished! I'll tell you what tho: No BMW that I've driven is on the same level as a GT3 if you can make that jump.

41 and I have 4 x kids under 4, car seats, 3 month old twins, mini van for the Wife.....GT3 is not happening any time soon.
There is nothing like getting on boost and my CES setup has been solid since 2014, which I can't say ever. I put about 2500 miles on the car and I've had it since 2002. I will probably never part ways with it. I just don't go to car shows, barely any cars and coffees. The car still gets the thumbs up and the looks, which is great, but just always in the back of my mind.
