Overheating after serpentine belt issue - best fix given costs?

I hope someone may be able to help, thanks in advance.
In short I’d love to know the chance I’ve wrecked my engine.
    I’m aware what I did wasn’t smart.

I’ve a 2006 BMW 650 Convertible, had it for 4 years, now done 130,000 miles.

Yesterday it seems like the AC Compressor “head” split, so the belt fell off, leading to failures in
    -Power steering.
    -Battery Charing
    -Engine cooling
    -And Air conditioning

It happened late on a Sunday, MILES away from home, so I continued driving carefully to a European car dealer and dropped it off.
I kept revs at 1,500 on a freeway at 55mph.

The temperature slowly raised from 160’F to about 190 degrees over perhaps 15 mins, where the temperature sensor went off to warn me.
I carried on driving a further 15 mins, carefully watching it rise steadily to 230’F as I arrived at the garage and left the car.
I saw two belts hanging off in the engine, both look fine.

I’m currently driving from New York to Miami and was going to sell the car when I arrived in Miami, I’m aware it ( was ) worth only like 3-4k , so don’t want to put much more into it

The garage is now quoting $2000 to fix the AC Compressor and new belts and to fix it all. I’m just about OK with that but don’t want to spend $2k only to find out there are other issues.

    Questions

    1. I’m concerned I may have damaged the engine driving for this time? Does this seem likely? What ways could you reasonably test to see if there is a big problem with the car in the current state?
    2. Does $2k seem like a fair price, the garage wants to use new parts for liability but I’m aware I just need it to last a few more months as the car is on it’s knees, will any garage be able to to repair it more cheaply but less well?
    3. If I don’t care about AC for a few months, could I get away with just fitting the serpentine belt? Seems like the AC Compressor could be left out without any real issues?

      Really appreciate any help,

Have them check out your engine first?

Yes, let's hope the engine survived, it would seem unlikely to be able to drive for 30 minutes without some problems, possibly the aux pump and electric fan saved it.
