E30 Suspension Gas or Oil Pressure Shocks replacement

    Hi everyone,

New to the threads here, i have a BMW 320i auto Cabriolet E30 and i need to replace the front shock absorbers as the near side shock has failed leaking oil!

Would you recommend sticking with oil pressure shocks or change to gas pressure shocks? If going with gas pressure shocks, would i still need to fill the tube with oil for lubrication to minimise corrosion.

I want to maintain stock ride height as this is UK and potholes are a plenty all around.

    Many thanks all

    No e30s, again :(
for regular use, I would just go with whatever was in there if you have not had trouble with them.
    No e30s again.

I recently changed my OE shocks on my 87 vert. I went with Bilstiens, a little more expensive than oe shocks but I really like the ride, and handling. The higher pressure keeps wheels on the road and smooths out those pot holes and bumps. No need to lubricate..

funny, I just did the fronts on my son's superE. we just got kyb gas struts for it since he is in basic training and we don't even know if he is going to be stationed here in the states. if he goes here in the states, I wanted to the car to be fairly stock so its easy to work on in case he has trouble anywhere he gets stationed
    No e30s again.
