Hi guys,
Since I'm changing the tires on my style 32's I would like to refurbish them with some new paint, and fix the curb rashes that the previous owner made
However, I have not been able to find any paint with the right paint code on spray can.IMG_8036.jpgIMG_8036.jpg I believe the color is Brilliant Silver or in German Brilliantsilber. I think color code is A57, but I'm not sure. The silver color is not the same as many of the other silvers on bimmer rims. It is really shiny and looks a bit like chrome.
It is only 2 of the wheel, that I need to repaint, so it's important the the color matches. Would I also need to put clear coat on it? Do the factory ones have clearcoat?
Iknow that I should send them to a paint shop, but In Denmark such services are way to expensive...
If you know a place that can mix the correct color for me and put in on a spray can it would perfect. I'm going for a cheap, but good solution.
Photo is to show the color. Photo is not mine...
Thank you guys!
Hi,
The OEM colour is more of a silver rather than a 'shinier chrome' type of colour.
You say you only want to paint 2 of your 4 wheels and want a 'match', so you'll need to look at the two wheels you want to match to and have the new paint made/mixed to match it. This needs a specialist to do, which you mention is too expensive.
In light of that, choose a silver colour you like and can buy cheaply enough to paint all four wheels. You'll then need to read up on how to refinish wheels in a DIY method and buy the materials to prepare each wheel ready for painting. Depending which paint colour you buy, will determine if you then want a clear coat or not. Some paints can be mixed with a very tough and durable shiny finish and others will need a clear coat done afterwards. Ensure you don't get too much paint thickness over the air valve hole and the lug holes as well.
This method will give you 4 colour matched wheels. If you go the route you are thinking, it's almost guaranteed that the match won't be great and you'll 'see' the new painted wheels in comparison to the 2 non painted wheels.
Cheers, Dennis!
Thanks Dennis, I'll try that!
Hello, recently got some style 32s also. Were you able to find the correct paint?
