'84 633 - I had to replace brake hose at master cylinder. I need to re-fill my PS/PB Reservoir - Any Reason not to use Dexron VI ? Seems to be the only Dexron I can find. Thanks, John Kenneth

Answered my own question, well documented: Dexron VI is backwards compatible with all previous Dexron including Dexron III.
I thought of using Mobil 1 as I had good experience with that product in BMW transmissions but I wasn't doing a complete fluid change and decided not to mix what was already in there. Not that I know what had previously been used other than it was red and looked clean.

I haven't had any issues with the DexVI in the hyd sys. I have mixed it with the older non synthetic Dex3 and from my exp, they can be mixed with no issues in this type of application.

The down side is the cost of the newer synthetic trans fluids have increased significantly.
