Random Ticking in Back of Engine Bay

So today started my car and I heard this louud, kind of hollow, tick sound in the back-center ish part of the engine bay. It is really random and doesnt seem tied to rpm. I do have a rough idle issue if that helps. It doesn't sound like lifter tick or rod knock, but it is really loud and a little worrying. Im at a loss of ideas here

I think you need to get the car up on a lift. Something could be going bad with the torque converter. Also, check the transmission fluid level. Be advised that BMW sourced automatic transmissions from GM of France and ZF of Germany. They are different transmissions and they use different fluids. The GM transmission fluid pan has flat sides while the ZF transmission fluid pan has ribs. The GM transmission uses Dexron3 while the ZF transmission uses a different fluid. Che k E46Fanatics for more info in transmission fluids.
