    Car bogs on hard turns

Took the E36 M3 Turbo for the first time to the track a few weeks ago.

I noticed on hard turns while carrying speed through a turn, the car would bog. But once it straightens out, then the issue goes away. This happened with roughly 1/2 tank of gas.

The fuel pump is a Walbro 535 using the original hanger.

Any suggestions on how to combat this issue? Do we need a baffle of some sort?

    Thank You

Right hand turn? You need a second fuel pump. There are several solutions. Search e36 dual fuel pumps.

I know right hand turn for sure. But not 100% sure of left hand turns but I think it did occur on both sides.

Thanks for the link. Will look into it.

It's a common problem. My S50 is supercharged and I use an Aeromotive 340LPH pump, but I get the same starvation with anything less than 1/2 tank.

It's caused by the design of the saddle tank. Most commonly occurs in long-ish right hand turns at ohhhh around 1G or more.
You need a pump in both sides and some additional plumbing, or a surge tank.

This might sound dumb, but I was just reading a thread where someone had a loose intake boot and during high G turns it would move and let unmetered air into the intake which caused loss of power.

Fuel cut has a very distinctive feel to it and will only happen in high G right handers. Not saying it's not fuel related but might be worth checking all your house clamps and vacuum hoses first.

eacmen, that's good info to have .... but have you looked at his engine? A loose intake boot would blow off - on a straight or a curve.
LiveWir3 - nice looking, clean install. Do you have a build thread?

I just run a surge tank, works flawlessly down to next to no fuel in the main tank. Bit of extra expense but worth it I think.

I hear you and was considering this. What surge tank did you go with? I just finished my setup and would hate not to be able to reuse the existing lines etc..

Does the surge tank fit in the spare tire well?

Thanks man. The system was pressure tested and no leaks were found. Besides a loose intake boot as you mentioned would blow right off even when not in boost.

I don't have a build thread (should have created one), but here is a list:

I use a Raceworks surge tank with an external raceworks pump...all AN fittings and lines however I retained the factory fuel lines which sit on top of the fuel tank (I've got a pic on my Instagram and a video explanation of the setup on my Youtube channel - link in Sigblock).

I ended up mounting mine in the opposite corner to the battery. That way it's out of the way in case I want to install a rear strut mount or cut out the wheel well down the track. Works well, and no surge at all.

I put the rally road dual pump kit in my turbo car.

Seems counter intuitive but using their siphon valve made a big difference in when I get fuel starve at an autocross. There's a lot of ways to do it though.

People with na setups seem really happy with a lift pump in the driver side feeding the passenger. It didn't fix my issues but did help.

For me with a turbo car the dual 485 pumps with the rally road siphon was better.

I think if I did it again I would just put one big walbro brushless pump in the factory hanger and use the rally road siphon valve to replace the factory one.
