Hi,
I´ve bought a euro M3 coupe 1994/07 with a wiring harness disaster. It all started with an optimistic guy trying to weld a roll cage in it and move the fuse box so the cage could attach to strut towers.
After this a lot went wrong, some things are out of order, for example gauges and some other things. I could of course try to solve this problems but the harness is no good since many cables are joint and lengthened and that doesn´t make me sleep very well at night.
I need a donor car to get a new harness and my question is what kind of models to search for. What cars except for M3, if any, uses the same harness? Or almost the same?
I know from way back when I swapped a S50B30 in a 325 that everything worked allright except for oil temperature in the cluster. That means to me that if i go with a 325 harness in my M3 body I will at least get the engine running. But what about the rest in the car?
Does a 320 share harness with a 325? A 320 donor car is a lot easier to find.
I have a 328 coupe 1997 body in the yard, someone can tell the compability of that harness?
A lot of questions but I hope someone with knowledge can give me some pointers. If your answer is a guess please say so since I´m already quite a bit off the course here.
Regards from Sweden,
/Markus
Use the last seven characters of the VIN in www.realoem.com to establish similarities/differences.
If you are just browsing realoem, E36 is in the ‘Classic’ catalog.

Yes from that site you can tell that there are many different part numbers on the looms but no info about the differences/similarities.
