e46 M3 STALL at idle only when HOT summer temps

Always enjoy learning ( I mean to post on E46 M3 ) sorry for the slow learning curve.


Im looking for information about e46 M3. Runs great 99 percent off the time. Living in Florida USA. The car only when HOT summer Temps, that the M3 when in stop and go traffic more like crawling, I rev it up to 2 to 3 k then when it returns back to IDLE it hiccups RPM dips and sometimes it will stall, after i start it , I keep the Revolutions up to avoid it from stalling again, when we get back up to speed all is well again.

The first step in diagnosing a problem is to scan the engine computer (DME in BMWspeak) for codes. The Service Engine Soon (SES) light is on only when an emissions related code is present.

Thank-you for posting in the main forum today.

I am willing to bet you will see a temp sensor code in there, for the S-54 tends to have problems with the coolant temp sensors.

The next will be a vacuum leak, for that too can cause issues like you describe.
