Hello I am a new owner of a used 2010 BMW 128i, the previous owner had let this car sit for months, I bought the car and I assumed this storing could be a faulty code/ sensor but it doesn't give me any codes. I've been unable to find any solutions online with a similar problem. I'm sure its small because everything works mechanically great. Here is a video I uploaded of the problem. The top opens and goes in but the trunk part wont close on it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4VDdigrSJ4&feature=emb_title
I appreciate anyone with the knowledge and time to help me with this repair.
Hi!
Ok, I have had the same issue before. Both with a 2012 and 2013 convertible 1 series. I'd ask you to try this for troubleshooting -
1. Start the car up. Make sure you have it running and no alarm codes, etc. Open and close the top if you can. (Hopefully it works!)
2. If it DID work, I see in the video you're using your FOB to put the top down. If your battery in the FOB is low and your battery in the car is low, the result is something you can see too. No error codes, just the top not doing what you want it to.
Just my thoughts because I've been hit with those two battery issues and they coincided with the top issues too. New batteries for everyone - it all worked!
Good luck to you
