E64 2007 650i Cab
Guys, info needed. I’m looking to buy a 2007 650i convertible, 52k miles, body interior in very good shape. A one owner, no accident, Florida car. I’m upgrading from a 1993 325is I’d bought new. I’ve no experience with the N62 V-8 or 6HP26 automatic. Can you tell me what to look for, what problems does this model have, etc.
Thanks for the help!

Compared to you 325 the 650 will be a money pit, engine oil leaks, valve stem seals, way more complicated electrical system buyer beware at least get a prepurchase inspection
Wow I knew she’d be more complex, but didn’t figure on oil leaks and complex electrical. Naturally I’ll get an inspection. Are there issues with the newer series cars hardtop convertibles I should look for? Also gonna look at 3 & 4 series cabs, & coupes. Living in Florida I’d really like a convertible or at least a sunroof coupe. I’m an older divorced guy so don’t want a sedan or need anything big. Looks and handling keeps me with Bimmers. I ride a Ducati since I was wrecked on my Harley Street Glide (haven’t owned a car in years since my 325is is gone).
Yeah, from what I’ve read here and on other bimmer forums, BMW really dropped the ball with the V8 engines. There’s a gasket in the area between the cylinder heads that tends to leak. I think it’s called the valley pan gasket. $$$$ to replace it.
Really poorly built
