VIN: WBAEG1319MCB42220
I’ve owned this awesome 850i 6-speed for two years (an eternity for a guy like myself) and have always told my car friends this was my one “never sell”. But an opportunity to own a ’93 850ci 6-speed in one of my favorite colors (found on this forum) has forced my hand. It’s time to find a new owner for this amazing car.
This is my 3rd E31 - previously owned a ’91 Canadian import Automatic 850i (sold here) and a ’94 850CSi (sold here). Owning a 6-speed V12 is something everyone should experience.
Here are the basics on this lovely car:
1991 850i 6-speed
Salvage/Rebuilt title
Brilliantrot exterior
Parchment interior
111k miles on chassis
~71k miles on motor
Staggered M-parallel replicas with brand new Continental Extreme Contact tires
Lowering springs (installed by PO)
Records dating back to
I found this 850i on this forum the day I delivered my ’94 850CSi to the transporter, seeing it off to its new home. I was so depressed driving home - thinking I’d never own another 6-speed 850. I immediately jumped on the forum to see what might be available and this one had just been listed. Previous owner had loved on it for 6 years.
The previous owner noted that the car was salvaged early in its life (confirmed by the Carfax as 1993), but didn’t have details, nor did the owner previous to him. He suspected it was a flood vehicle, mainly due to the interior color change (VIN states black, car is Parchment). He also noted this car had a replacement motor - which was installed at 78k chassis miles. The replacement motor had 42k when installed - which means it now has roughly 71k miles. Receipts for the new motor at documented chassis miles are part of records that date back to 2007. For me, it was a perfect fit - a 6-speed 850 that I could drive and enjoy.
Since I’ve owned it, I’ve done the following:
New triangle airbag steering wheel
Refurbished the MID with Bavtech (perfect pixels, all buttons function)
Cocomats installed
Two new batteries
Refurbished factory radio installed
Recently I took it in to my local Euro-specialist to deal with a few things
Had a drive belt squeak, so they replaced AC and Alternator belts
Had the classic 55-mph wobble/shimmy, so they replaced the trailing arm bushings
They also replaced the intake manifold gaskets (car idle was stumbling) and replaced an oxygen sensor to deal with a random CEL
Cabin filters were changed
Tires were installed
Exhaust bracket was replaced
Jack pads were replaced on the front
And an oil service was done
In total, a $4200 service
I also have a full set of spark plugs that will go with the car - as they were not needing replacement yet.
As it sits, this is an absolute attention grabber. The Brilliantrot paint shines nicely throughout (though a PO must have liked polishing, as edges have signs of wear). Road wear from 30+ years is evident, but nothing out of the norm. Slight spot of rust on the sunroof panel (common) but otherwise, rust free. Pulls hard - tracks straight - and is an absolute blast to drive. It represents a great guilt-free driver that the next owner is sure to enjoy.
Title in hand - no liens - ready to go.
Asking $15,500/OBO
