Any battery that fits well and has a vent. There are just a few battery manufacturers in the world now, so brands don't really mean a lot. Get one that is low cost. Interstates are inexpensive at Costco, for instance. I buy batteries at generic shops that sell unbranded ones. I picked up a "48" style battery for $85. It had a 1 year warranty. It's lasted 4 years so far. The secret is keep the car on a battery tender. Good luck.

Any Group 48 / H6 as listed below. If you have lost your vent tube, or the new battery does not come with a vent tube, get the Dorman tube.

    Dorman Vent Tube 924-254
    BMW battery 61 21 8 381 738
Duralast Platinum H6-AGM (AutoZone, comes with vent hose)
    Interstate MTP-H6 Megatron (NAPA)
Sears DieHard International Gold H6 AGM
    Walmart Ever Start MAXX H6

I have had good performance with the Duralast Platinum. I have them in all my cars now.

I cannot recommend the Interstate. My first one failed after a year and a half. The second one was pro-rated under warranty from the first. That one lasted less than a year and I called it done with Interstate. They are way too expensive to be failing that quickly.

The vent tube already exists in your battery box... Or it should, at least. It just clips into a hole on the top of the battery. Make sure any unused holes are plugged

Either the tube that was in the car, of it has been lost, a new Dorman tube.

When I needed a battery I walked into my local O'Reilly's, and was surprised to find that they listed a correctly-sized AGM battery with a vent tube, and had it in stock!

I got a Costco one a few weeks ago. I think it ran around $115. It was a perfect fit for the compartment and vent tube. It has a 3 year warranty. Costco is great for returns and the price was right.

Most car batteries are made by Exide or Johnson regardless of labels.

By the way the battery I removed was made by Excide. It lasted 10 years which is incredible. It had some weak starting under 30 degrees for the last 4 years but I kept using it till it finally gave out this in Oct 20.

When i bought the car in 2012, it came with Super start 48EXT. Still have the same one. Don't know how old it was when i bought it. Overall 8+ years. Looks like this one -> https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/b.../48ext/4742484. So far working fine.

If the battery is sealed, there's no need for a vent. I just walk into my auto parts store of choice and buy one with little to no research. Only ever had to buy one battery for my Z in 8 years.

Let me correct my statement. You don't need to vent your battery. The corrosive gasses produced during the regeneration process will just accumulate in the battery box.

I believe that sealed batteries have a check valve that opens up at at 2-3 psi and releases hydrogen gas which under a hood would not be a problem but in a closed trunk, not good.

Modern auto batteries are Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM), maintenance free, containing no free liquid, so without caps, but they do generate gas under high charging rate. The cells are joined across the top by a manifold which vents through hole at each end. In a trunk or cabin application, one hole should be plugged and the gas vented from the other hole to the outside with a tube. Our Buick had a battery under the back seat. Its manual said...
Your vehicle has a maintenance free battery.
A battery that is not properly vented can let

sulfuric acid fumes into the area under the rear
seat cushion. These fumes can damage your
rear seat safety belt systems. You may not be
able to see this damage, and the safety belts
might not provide the protection needed in a
crash. If a replacement battery is ever needed,
it must be vented in the same manner as the
original battery. Always make sure that the
vent hose is properly reattached before
    reinstalling the seat cushion.

Only Battery I will buy for a car I'm going to keep is the Optima Battery -- a.k.a. "The Six Pack Battery". They cost 50% more than a 'normal' battery, and last 2-4 times longer. Never have I needed to jump one.
