Fuel relay/pump
So the other day I went to the German Butcher shop in my fine German motor car, 1990 Cabriolet. When I came out the car would crank and wouldn’t start. First reaction, change the fuel pump relay. Had an old spare in the glove box, no good. Then I switched it with its neighbor, still no good. This is when the heavens opened and started pouring. Ugh. Called for a tow and had the car towed back home. Well today I had a chance to look at it. Tried to start it, same issue, crank no start. So I start checking voltages at the relay pins, 12.5 volts. I stick the relay back in after wiping the pins off. Nothing. Then I decide to try to jump pins 30 and 87, car starts right up. I scratch my head because I tried three different relays there and nothing. Out of curiosity, I put the original relay that I had just removed, Car started right up. Did three or four more starts, no issues. WTF? Can someone tell me what May have caused this?
