This was replaced 5 months ago. Febi brand. The system never bled properly despite proper method. Pedal usually not returning to full rest. Pedal had been repaired after a tear (seen below) but seemed to be in original parameters.
I was able to get the ball end of the eyelet shaft back into the deformed opening but wanted to understand why it happened.
I will be getting under warranty a new part tomorrow but think I should harvest my other intact 540 clutch pedal in case this repair left this pedal slightly off allowing for excess travel and possibly forcing the ball end through the retainer.

I also wanted to ask if the correct placement for the clutch pedal spring is to locate the two tabs at the bottom into the groove in the small metal plate on the firewall behind the pedal. This was where I had it positioned.Attachment 679643

I'm not sure what I'm looking in the second picture. The third picture is incorrect - the two tabs on the spring should be located in the large middle groove on the pedal bracket.
Sorry I realize that was worded confusingly.. I meant to say I had it positioned as I described my understanding that the groove was where the tabs go . It was there I just added the image for general reference and see its not located correctly there but I was removing or replacing it when i took that... and moreover I only bumped this thread because I wanted to try adding the image of the wheels I have on my junker to the classified thread but the manage attachments section was missing from the posting form.. I could only copy the image from the above post to link in the classified thread.
