I have a 2019 X-3 with the Parking Assistant. It also has an audible warning for traffic when you are backing up. (Lexus calls this feature Cross Traffic Alert - it is useful in places like parking lots, where surrounding cars may block your view. When you shift into reverse, sensors in the rear bumper pick up traffic moving down the rows and sound an audible warning when motion is detected.)
I have a function like this on my X-3 - it has gone off when backing out of my driveway - the neighbor has a hedge that comes out to our sidewalk. The problem is that it doesn't seem to work all the time - yesterday, I saw a truck coming down the street, and slowed to let it go by, the alert sensor stayed silent. My wife claims her Lexus would have warned her that the truck was coming.
I won't go into the husband-wife dynamics here - I just would like to know if there is any way to adjust the sensitivity of this feature, so that it can go off sooner (and silence my wife in the process). I really don't like her Lexus.
Thanks in advance.
you might try this trick to see if all your sensors are working. Put the car in reverse with your foot on the brake, then have someone hold a compass up to each one of the sensors. If the sensor is working it should swing the needle on the compass.
