Hi ive own my bmw for a year,
And I've been having this problem for almost a year. The problem is that when i start my car, the car idles like normal bit after 10 seconds the rpms start to drop. So far so good. But then they start dropping too much to like 400 rpm and the car gives trottle by itself to keep the engine alive. The car starts shaking hardly and also my stick shakes hard. I've changed my coils, spark plugs, high pressure fuel pump, normal fuel pump, engine chain. But my problem didn't go. So I brought it to my BMW garage. They said my fuel sensor had gone bad and it needed an replacement. I let them do it, but the mechanic also said I still had a fuel problem. They said they were going to chance my injectors, sparks and coils. I didn't let them do it because they would charge me 2000 euros. I need your help bummer. Thanks for reading. I'll be waiting for answers.
The first step in diagnosing a problem is to scan the engine computer (DME in BMWspeak) for codes. I recommend you get the OBDFusion app for your smartphone or tablet. Then go to E46Fanatics and search for threads on OBDFusion in which jfoj has commented. He’s the guru. His comment will tell you which communications adapter to buy (it plugs into the obd2 port under the dash), how to set up the app and how to use it.
Did you change the fuel filter?
Ive changed the fuel filter
