Considering a 2005 e60 with a steering problem. Not familiar with e60's any ideas?
A little background. Pretty familiar with early 2K year BMW's. Own several e39, e38, e36, e53 and e31 cars. I like working on them, have a laptop with INPA and other tools. Pretty handy with cars and I enjoy this era of BMW quite a bit. I'm in love with the M54 6-cylinder and have been thinking of venturing into an e60 530i sport model. So searching around for a good model with features I want.
Found a great candidate that a liked, messaged the seller who was super honest and told me there was one big problem with the car:
"The power steering malfunctions after moving the vehicle 100 feet or so. So the wheel itself misaligns and you have to turn the wheel quite a bit"
Doing some research I've vaguely heard of the active steering system but that's something I've not worked on before.
Does anyone here with an e60 heard of this problem and have any idea on the fix? I'm going to continue to search but thought I would post as well.
Thanks!
