Who here has put a Snow Plow on their e83?

I have a 99 Jeep Cherokee that's a tired plow truck. Plow set up is only a few years old. Thinking about putting the plow set up on an e83 x3.

    Has anyone here done it?

Looks like I won't have to cut the bumper. However, hopefully it doesn't bottom out!

So I bought another x3. Version 2 is a 2006 M54 3.0L 6spd Msport that was totaled out due to a slight hit in the front. Wise choice in the end. This will be my new winter DD.

I was trying to make the plow frame so that it would universally mount to any x3. However, after some contemplation I figured they best way to accomplish this task was to weld in a couple 1/4" plates to the front subframe:

    20201206_151214.jpg

You can see them welded to the subframe in this picture:

    20201207_200752.jpg

Version two of the plow frame also has the bottom of the plow frame pretty much even with the bottom of the front subframe and the bulk in front of the lower portion of the radiator:

    20201208_133746.jpg

Some grade 9 bolts attach the angle iron to the subframe and the new welder is making me look pretty good if I do say so myself. (I'm not a very good welder)

I cut the center of the aluminum re bar out to make room for the plow hoop.

    Bumper on top of that:

    Plow hoop mounted.

    20201209_171212.jpg

I still have to wire it up and tidy up the plastic bumper parts, but it will actually work!

I’m sorry but this is pure lulz. As if the unibody wasn’t flimsy enough in these things as it is.

Bring on the hate! I'll update after a few storms and put it on the lift to share photos of my findings.

Nice job, curious how it holds up over time. How deep of snow do you plan to plow with it?

So far, one storm of 6 inches. Did two passes during the storm and some street clean up after. Plow caught some frozen ice and bent down pretty good. I wasn't easy on it. If I start hear it coming apart, I'll look at it before winter is over. Otherwise, I'll update in the spring with pictures.

Come check out the new Prussian Motors GG!

Has nothing to do with “hate” it has to do with the x3 is a car on stilts you nimrod. It has the same curb weight as an E93. The flimsy sheet metal can barely contain the parts that came on them factory. This is not a truck.

With the plow raised, how much does the front squat? Did you install some heavier duty springs?

I wouldn't do it to mine but pretty cool set up! I hope it works like you intend, thanks for sharing. Glad I don't live where it snows often.

It hasn't snowed since and the plow is now off and don't think I have a good photo with the plow up. However, here's a video of it in action:

Got another storm. The summer tires aren't the greatest, so I ordered a new set of 17" blizzaks that I'll put on another set of wheels. Still managed to move about 6 inches of snow with it.

    Tucked away for the night:
