    D120 E87 N47-D20A from 2007

    Hi
VIN number just in case: WBAUB51030VB92539
The car gives fault codes, in this order, read done with Autocom:
    480A PDF - permanent - twice
    4CD0 Boost Pressure Valve - permanent - 36 times
    3FF0 MAF - permanent - once
    Symptoms:
No answer in throttle - mostly cold engine. All of the sudden when the engine has "climbed" in RPM and the gears are higher - the power is suddently released and everything is as normal.
I tried to perform a regeneration but it did not succeed. Perhaps I need to resett the PDF learning values (or what ever they are called) first?
The PFD was changed to a new, one year ago.
The turbo was replaced with used one, at the same time.
So I purchased Bimmer Pro and one of the recommended bluetooth dongles to it.
The PDF soot amount today 7-17 grams. It started off at 7 grams (perhaps after my try to regenerate the PDF before?) - but after a drive for 25 minutes and a short stopp - it climbed to 17 grams and 31%.
Last regeneration done 340 km ago accordning to Bimmer. It means the fault codes were put around 50 km AFTER the last regeneration.
The back pressure sensors are fluctuating and seemengly OK (I do not know the values supposed to shown).
But I notised the EGR is not showing under 5%. Is THAT value something I can trust in? Should it not be closed at times, 0%?
No fault codes after that, about total of 50 minute of drive today OR the try to regenerate it earlier.
I did take out the EGR valv - but there is no way to check if its closed or not. Because its divided into two. It looked OK, clean enough. The diaphragm is intact - checked it fast with a vacuume pump.
AND - the breather tube is leaking as hell, I did a smoke test on the engine. So Im picking up a new one the day after tomorrow. But Im not sure if that would give these symptoms though.
    Thankfull for some input.
Im totally new to BMW and this is the first diesel Im doing any fault tracing.

Most likely the leaks or a faulty turbo controller or MAF is preventing your regenerations since it is in fault mode.

You would need to check the MAF for function (log values as you are driving), solve the air leaks, and possibly test the turbo actuator to make sure it is actually working.

I would bet on air leaks and turbo actuator. MAF could be a consequential fault because of low air.

    HI
    Thanks for the answer!
I bought a new crank case breather tube and changed that.
After that I did a regeneration.
When I tried to do it before - I only had Autocom at that time - not sure if that would have been a problem, the regeneration did not succed how ever.
The regeneration went well this time and was done in 12 minutes.
The turbo actuator was moving freely, as far as I could see. Because its electronically operated - I dont know how to check it out.
The turbo was changed to a NEW one, for one year ago.
As well as the particulate filter was NEW, when changed one year ago.
I do think that the culprit was the air leak from the breather tube. The time will tell.
