My catalytic converter is shot. Does anyone have any suggestions which will be economical and effective.. I have a 2008 750i not a 75I

Catalytic converters and economical don't belong in the same sentence. OEM cats from BMW aren't cheap. And I've never seen an aftermarket cat that keeps the check engine light off because they're never as efficient and effective as BMW original cats.
Keep in mind, if you've got a higher mileage car, and the valve stem seals have never been replaced, that's probably the reason your cat failed in the first place. So a new cat without fixing everything else may not last that long.
