Old to new seat back swap.

I replaced my trashed upper seat with one from a 1998 528i, my car is 1999 528i. I reused the frame since it is different and the head rest motor is different and would not match up to the wiring harness.

Now the set heater wiring is different, the plug is a different color and they don't fit together.
Now if you clip the rib off the side they do plug together.

My question is, will I have any problems if I plug in the seat back heater? They made the change for a reason, does anyone know why? I believe the frame was changed to add in lumbar support and the changed the headrest motor at the same time.

The newer ones might have a higher power rating (more heated surface, more watts) than the old one.
Higher current could require a different plug.
OTOH if they fit when you "clip the rib off the side" it's probaly not a problem.
