Who have you been using for tuning, or are you using none stock ecu?

We have Motec and Link ECUs ... so much easier to work with, and no hassles. Our tunes are 2 of the best guys in the business as well, so hard to complain

Talperian is selling a set of Schricks. I paid $750 for mine used. I sold a set for $550 years ago. Last I checked they were about $1150 new. But these are 264/256. For racing you probably want more cam.

Well, here are the carnage photos as promised. #1 cylinder exhaust side valve head broke off. The retainer and keepers were still holding down the spring with whatever nub of a valve head was left. Not sure if the rod bearing went and contact was made or it was an over rev (not a money shift, but down shifting a bit early). Also looks like the cylinder wall cracked... not sure what happened there. I can feel the crack as well as distortion on the wall... like it had water and froze, but wasn't that.

Good news!... cams are perfect. I thought that maybe I had done something wrong during assembly but all was good.

I'll be taking the oil pan off in the next day or so.

what makes you think it was over-rev?

Right now this is the plan! I have to keep going!... otherwise, I’ll have nothing to drive for next season.

Still worried that 11.5:1 CR on the stock cams will need more than 93+ octane. I read that once you go with aftermarket cams, compression actually goes down a bit due to the longer duration of the valves being open.

A little off topic, but here is what my s52 made with schrick cams(euro m3 SS exhaust headers/back).

They are sold now. Id recommend the OP go with cat cam 275s or schrick 276/270. Or higher, really no reason to shoot for stock power level with a full rebuild.

I'll have Dyno results on a 11.2:1 S52 with the cat 275s in about a month. Oh and with the s54 itb kit I designed and produced now. Shooting for 300whp, will play with cam timing as well. Starting at 110 for the intake cam lobe center and retarding from there.

Also running a REAL ATI damper with proper press-fit, mass, and 3 inertia rings. Will spin to 8000rpm and see if we can make power.

I will then come back to the Dyno again with the stackable shim solid lifter conversion by Perry (someguy2800) to see how power/valve events are affected at higher rpm between hydraulic and solid (valve float).

Will then come back again with a Turner CSL airbox and see what that does.

Sorry if derailing your thread a little OP. Please go with some proper camshafts for your build. You won't regret it!

Thanks for all the input guys. I just want a 110% reliable HPDE car that I don't have to "worry" about. If I can get that kind of power on the mild Schrick's, not sure if I want anymore.

Nice looking mods and fun project! As a comparison and some data, our build we made 307/249 rear wheel (hub dyno) with the following mods:
    s52 12.5:1 CR
    cat cams 290 12.5mm lift
    hydraulic m50NV lifters
    modified Schrick intake (bigger plenum)
    80mm TB
    98 octane Sunoco

And on the same dyno, 329/271 rw on with s54 with the 304 schricks and pump gas.

    Thank you!

Impressive with the s52, hopefully I get close! Do you have a dyno graph? I'd love to see at what rpms you were making power, etc...

I don't know much about hub dynos, but the s54 dyno numbers look low for that camshaft with I'm assuming supporting typical modifications?

Here is the dyno graph. Forgot to mention, also have an ATI damper ... we run the engine to 7800 on track.

    Screenshot 2016-07-11 16.17.19.png

The s54 is build for enduro (6+ hrs), so we kept it safe. Has the typical mods, SLC coated stuff, and is cable drive, Alpha tune (link ECU). Here is the s54 graph
