CarPlay retrofit for NAV unit ?

I searched for tutorials and consensus but haven’t found much. Is there a recommended unit that can replace the double din nav/radio (I have the Harmann kardon) and look decently integrated? I’ve Researched a few units based on posts but each time I plug in 2003 m3 nav hK I get a “non compatible”. Thanks!

Are you looking for a whole new head unit, or just OEM one that has CarPlay on it?

Apologies it took me this long to reply - the car was getting the subframe mount areas welded up and wasn't around for me to expand...

I'm looking to simplify, add usefulness and reduce power drain. Right now the double DIN unit has a nasty screen that makes the car look old, and really bad radio reception...
in the trunk I have this rube goldberg stuff that always whirs and turns on and off (DVD for maps, haha, and 6 CD changer, also Haha)

I'd like to yank all that if possible or at least unplug them, and replace the head unit with something that lets me have carplay or at the very least digital music via cards/usb download, and integrates as nicely as possible with the dash looking more or less factory, and yeah - bonus points if it's easy to do and doesn't require tons of splicing and doesn;t cost a kidney ;-) Hehe... Well some of those criteria anyway - I realize all is asking too much ! Thanks !

Looks like you have a Vert, for the coupe has that stuff behind a panel.

So have a look here at this guy's review of his unit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8WE8P_3l44&t=843s

Yes it is a Vert... Thanks for that, it is an android unit but the price is right and it looks like you can add carplay. I ordered one and will cross fingers I can figure out how to install it ;-) will update you guys.

Since you already have the nav system, it will be an easier install as you don't have to relocate the HVAC panel. It seems every cable you need is inside the box so there shouldn't be any wire cutting involved.

Well no... I am completely screwed... I got the Xtrons unit, watched install videos galore, seems simple enough, pull trim, vent, and it's plug and play. Except not with a Navigation unit... Apparently for that your also need a $77 cable adapter.

My connectors goingto the Navi unit are not at all the same as the regular radio and I am stuffed... No corresponding wires either that look like I could guess and solder...
On order, everything back in and waiting now...
