    1999 750il...possible evap issue..need some direction.

    Hi everyone,

I have an ongoing issue with my 1999 750il E38 with 140k miles. I get the annoying gas pump shutting off before tank is full drama...and recently got the error code P0444 as a pending code. When I research the code, they suggest that the 2 purge solenoids under the hood by the oil filter may be bad. I tested them both by disconnecting the wiring and applying 12 volts and they both click and block vacuum from passing through when energized. My question is this..is it possible that the charcoal canister by the fuel tank is the problem with the early shut off while refueling...maybe a sensor/solenoid blockage?? Im not sure if the pending code P0444 is related but it seems to point to the 2 solenoids that I already tested under the hood. I also noticed that the car seems to idle rather low a few minutes after a cold start up. The top side of the engine has been resealed...no vacuum/oil leaks...many new electronics, MAF, all ignition parts, O2s, etc.
Please let me know your thoughts

    Have a great w/e

    Hi Venom/all,

Thanks for the suggestion on swapping the purge valves on the drivers side by the oil filter. Swapping them did not help. I noticed that there another similar looking valve connected by the drivers side head but not sure what that one controls. I thought the 2 purge valves by the oil filter on my 1999 750il were responsible for purging fuel vapors from the charcoal canister and into the intake? Can someone please tell me if that other valve has anything to do with the p0444 error code?

Thanks again for all the helpful advice

Those 2 valve you swapped is for secondary air pump for bank 1 and 2. That third one is for your fuel purge...if memory serve me right.

So I made a mistake...I swapped the 2 by the filter but didnt touch or check the 3rd by the drivers side cylinder head. I believe all 3 valves are the same part numbers. Thanks so much...I need to get that 3rd valve checked and see where it takes me.
