Trying to replace a broken throttle cable on an 84 M10 powered 318i. The car has been bastardized and I'd like to repair it correctly. The problem is that the throttle lever has an open rectangular hole, where the cable is supposed to connect. The last owner had a custom plastic block wire tied to it, with a slot cut to slip the cable through it. Obviously not original. Can anyone post a pic of the proper hook up for the cable? I know a picture is worth a thousand words, but I don't have permission to post pics yet. Here is the link to the diagram.
This is the setup I have. It looks like #20 goes into #7 on the picture, however I purchased #20, and it does not appear to be the correct piece.

No e30s again.
Do you have parts #15 and #16?
Are you able to identify the correct parts diagrams in bmwfan using the last seven characters of the VIN?
So this clip #20, p/n 13541286378 (NIpple.)
Fits into the “C” of the 1.8L throttle body linkage

Yep. Did you click on the link I posted? I have confirmed vua vin that I have the proper throttle body for the car. I have everything right up to 7. It appears that #20 somehow locks into #7, but I don't see how that would work.

Yep. That one has the block wire tied into the lever also. What is the proper design here? Mine has a homemade block wire tied in as well. What's the proper piece and how does the cable lock in? Thanks

I cannot remember, it's been over 10 years since I had an e30 m10 car.
No e30s again.
Based on the diagrams and ebay pictures, #20 should have a couple of legs that clip onto the outside of the #7 bracket. In the ebay pictures those legs have broken off and were replace with zip ties.

I would think grommet #15 fits into a not pictured bracket. #16 pin is actually inserted into the block on the throttle and then the threaded end of the cable passes through it. Based on the ebay picture, the pin goes into the location farthest from the hinge. (Pivot point is clean and shiny. The second one might be for cruise control.) Then if this is like other throttle cables the #17 adjusting nut and possibly a lock nut.

So part #20 is what I had ordered, the problem you'll notice is that when you order it it does not look like the picture. The final solution I figured out Saturday. When you order that part, it's only half of the block. You need to order a quantity of 2 and snap them together to make the full block. I hope this helps out someone else that has a wire tied block in there. Thanks for your help.
