SOLD SOLD SOLD Hey there folks not really sure of the value of these cars these days, i looked around couldn't find another one for sale within a 500+ mile range.
I daily drive this car.
Clean title 1997 BMW 318Ti M-Tech $3500
M44 1.9L DOHC 4 cyl engine
5-speed manual hatchback
Below average miles for the year @ 222,800.
Original M-Tech package includes: F/R 'M' bumpers and side skirts, M badged thick door trim, stiffer spring rates w/ lower ride height, larger sway bars, leather/cloth interior w/ 5 way sport seats, 16x7" sport wheels, sound package.
Well documented maintenance history in hand+ I have kept track of work performed by me.
Recent work done this summer include:
- new F/R Koni STR Street struts
- new R shock mounts
- new F bump stops
- new Brake light switch
- new air filter
- New F brakes w/ drilled & slotted rotors, brake pads, low mileage calipers, new brake lines.
- 2x 15w40 oil changes (one just performed)
'Cons'
interior:
⁃ head liner saggy but not hanging on your head and really don't notice unless your siting in back seat.
⁃ drivers seat lower butt cloth has separated (not torn) seam at leather
⁃ fuel gauge glitchy
⁃ Airbag light on for Passenger seat detection sensor
⁃ 1 key for doors and IG. Key wont turn hatch tumbler. R hatch does lock when locked w/ doors.
Exterior
⁃ paint is shiny/taken care of & waxed but up close shows defects for age
⁃ Age related wear on weather stripping
⁃ Drivers 1/4 panel faded clear & small rust bubble under paint. No other rust on car. No signs showing to have been driven In Winter
⁃ M front bumper missing mid section mesh. Still available to buy.
Engine
⁃ small oil leak but did just repair lower ps hose and new cam sensor o ring so waiting to see if leak persists.
Engine runs very smooth and clutch engagement is great and shifting is crisp still. Not a fast car but a fun car to drive. Suspension is firm and solid but is a 90’s vehicle so don’t expect a 2020 experience. Exhaust is complete and muffler replaced.
All windows work with one touch up and down switches, sunroof works both ways. R windows pop out, R wiper works great. glass fog lights replaced previously. Hvac all works, AC is Cold, heater is hot.
The Interior is clean and tidy and smoke-free. Paint is presentable but drivers 1/4 panel has some faded clear coat and 1 small rust bubble under paint. NO rust anywhere else on the car. A great 10 footer. Great tread left on tires! OEM stereo was dead so I installed decent head unit w/ harness adapter no cut wires. Sub will be removed prior to sale.

Very nice car, we've got one on craigslist out here with 89K original miles and pristine paint for 3k, but different markets I suppose.
