97 328i convertible.
Installed new clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder. Bled system and started to get pedal pressure. Then lost it all with fluid leaking out of the center of the bottom of the transmission.
so I know the new slave cylinder is bad. Any chance it's just bad, or is it possible that I installed it incorrectly? Hard to see slave shaft going into the hole. Thanks in advance for any advice.
If the shaft wasn't positioned right and it slipped off the lever, then the shaft/plunger can be forced out of the slave cylinder with all the fluid.

Thanks guys, I'll get a new one and try it again.
Make sure you fish out the loose rod somehow!

After fishing out the rod, when you install the next slave cylinder, you need to make sure that installation requires a certain amount of pressure to push the slave into place. No pressure required means that you're not installing it straight.

Sorry so long to get back. Second attempt went much better. Now have a functioning clutch.
