Recently bought a '15 BMW 750LiX with Left Front End collision damage, and decided to take it to local shop for repairs to save $$. The poor guy is not familiar with the vehicle at all, and I've had to identify parts needed by myself so far. My knowledge on bodywork is VERY limited, and I'm becoming increasingly concerned that what the end result may look like. Doing the best I can with pictures on realoem.com, but my limited knowledge makes it hard to get the best out of what that site offers.
Here are the critical items that we are trying to figure out right now:
* We've so far identified that we need the front end & front left harnesses as the adapters/housings have been stripped off in the accident. The issue is that he doesn't know what all those harnesses should connect to. Is it possible to just buy the adapters and connectors instead of buying the entire harness sets?
* We need the engine oil cooler hose, but he doesn't know whether or not we need the engine oil cooler itself. Or where it goes. Neither do I.
That's the common theme - I discover what is needed either from studying pictures or from questioning an item that's hanging loose. Can only imagine what more we need that only a trained eye would identify. Obviously, I'm now starting to regret not taking the vehicle to a professional given the amount of time and money spent so far but hoping to still make the best of what I've got.
So my question is this: Is there a catalog/manual that I can use for reference on all components that may need to be repaired/replaced? Any help is much appreciated.
