We have a 2018 AWD diesel X5. We are buying a 16' single axle travel trailer weighing 3200 pounds. How capable is the X5 of handling the 3500 pound load given it is a big box and we utilize a distribution hitch? We both have decades of trailer hauling experience. Large and long grades will be part of the hauling route.
Thank you for your real life experience with this vehicle.

You shouldn't have any issues at all with that size trailer.

Thanks for your reply
That was my thought until somebody told my wife we would not be safe hauling such a big trailer with such a small vehicle. She mentioned the trailer would push the car on steep grades. She suggested a F-150 but the F-150 has the same weight and the same tow capacity with only a 6.5 inch longer wheel base... plus the X5 is AWD
So I was hoping to hear from some people who haul with their X5.
I've had no problem towing a similar weight trailer to mammoth with a 35d
I have a 19 foot Escape travel trailer with a GW of 5,000 lbs. Loaded with tanks full it comes in at 4,350. No issue. Tows like a dream. Solid 20 mpg while towing. Last summer did Atlanta to Grand Tetons and back, no issue. Thinking about going to a 21, same GW. Did this all on run flats by the way.
I pull a 2007 23ft Airstream Safari SE with my 2015 X5 35d with no problem. 600 lb hitch weight. 4452 lbs. Tow's like a dream.
