M54 chain guide pieces in oil pan

So I have boxes and boxes of parts for my restore. 02 530iA. Dropped the pan today to discover bits of plastic. It looks like I may have to pull the head to remove cover?

At this point I should just pull the motor and trans and rebuild both. I literally have everything removed except head and ac compressor. I initially planned to do all major components and the hole just gets deeper.

All advice welcomed. I was hoping to get everything back together in a month but now it may be even longer.

Can you post pics of the plastic that you think is a chain guide? Could it be a piece of an old, hardened valve cover gasket?

No need to remove the head to R&R the guides.
    It's not old VC gasket.
