    What is that oily box under the air filter and should I do something about it?

    Could someone help me understand what is that box under air filter on my 2004 BMW 118d. It connects to the air intake tube and looks like its leaking oil inside.

    Not much BMW diesel knowledge here, but an oily box near an air filter suggests something related with crankcase ventilation.
    E34 and E32 factory-installed fire hazard
    E34 can use E36 metal radiators
    E34 wiring diagrams
    E34 Touring hatch fixes
    E34 stock ride with reasonable height
    E34 and E32 aftermarket SLS
    E34 rear passenger heat fix
    E34 M50 37BZ swap
    E34 544iT began... ...got its interior sorted out... ..drove to the Arctic... ...and moved on.
