Fist time owner of a 2015 BMW 328i X-drive M sport. Trying to import CD. Message states "memory full"
How do I clear out some memory to make room to import some CDs?
I can't find the info in the owner's manual.
Thanks,
John
Why aren't you just streaming your music from your phone?

Tex2670 I'm 68, Pretty old school. I use Sirius XM in my 2014 Xterra. I don't want to purchase another subscription for the new to us BMW. My other three cars are MGBs from the 70s. BTW, I can do all my own repairs and maintenance on those cars from the 70s. It has only been 2 years that I got a "Smart" phone. So to answer your question. I was able to sync my phone to the BMW and I can listen to Sirius XM that way in the BMW. However, The BMW was purchased for my wife (she is six months younger then me). She has a smart phone but not the subscription. And she doesn't even care to carry her phone with her, she pretty much just uses it for phone call and some texting at home. She is even much less techy then I am. She loves her CDs and she used to be able to put six at a time in her 6-CD changer in her 2002 Honda Accord that we sold two days after purchasing the Beemer. The previous owner of our 328xi has the entire music memory filled up with classical and religious songs. We would sure like to delete them and put in music my wife likes. On another note I have two older mp3 players and tried plugging them into the ports and neither of them are apparently supported for some reason. Please can someone tell me how to free up some "Memory Space" without deleting every darn profile the car has imputed. Any advice will be much appreciated.
Hey John,
To manage music on your built-in multimedia drive, you need to use the iDrive, and navigate to "Multimedia" > "Music Collection" > "Music Search" > "Browse Directory".
Highlight a Folder or Track. Then Open "Options".
From there you can "Delete Directory", "Delete Folder", "Delete Title". Or even "Delete Music" to get rid of everything and start over...
OR
From under "Music Collection", "Options" can show "Manage Music Collection" to "Free Memory". or to "Delete Music". You can USB import and backup your Music Collection from there too.
Yeah, the 'Options' menu reveals all. Lol. I suggest getting a copy of the BMW "Driver's Guide" app for one of your phones. It has tons of model-specific info (all the above is there, happy reading).
Hope this helps,
also Old Skool, Tom

Thanks Old Skool Tom, That is the detailed kind of Info I needed. I will try your suggestions out tomorrow. And see if I can find the "Driver's Guide" app for my phone.
Really appreciate your help. This is our first BMW. Had it for a week now. I love it. My wife wishes she still had her 2002 Honda Accord EX which only had 93,000 miles. I think she will love this car too once she gets use to it. The tech features that it has just blows my mind. Here is a picture of one of my MGs my 1972 MGB-GT Loves Oil (1280x954).jpg
John - glad to help. Enjoy your ‘new’ Bimmer. Sweet GT, BTW!
