Folks,
Can someone help identify this part? Tape measure shows the scale of the item. It was found in the drain channel for the air ducts at the rear of the engine bay. No BMW part numbers are on it. It has definitely broken off something, but looking around the engine bay and the hood, all looks fine.

Thanks!
Under hood alarm switch would be my guess

#17 possibly?
E38 6spd, 4.6is, VF Engineering Supercharged, Dinan HFM/TB, 3:64Quaife, VAC Motorsport underdrive pulleys, SuperSprint headers/mufflers, Smile factor.
01 740i, Imola Red, stock.
98 318ti, beater.
97 540i, yard art.
It looks like a bracket that maybe held something in place
I think a hose or cable holder?
Mounts to the wiper arm. Keeps the blade inline with the arm.
Thank you all, this helped me figure it out. Part #17 is grayed out for my car, but this appears to be part # 16, the right wiper blade guard, part #61618206359. I found a picture of the undamaged part on ecstuning.com and it is match.
I didn't realize the car had this part on the wiper arm. I'll now have to figure out exactly where on the wiper arm it came off from and pickup a replacement part.
As Chris33 noted, the part mounts to the wiper arm. I never really noticed this part before. Here is the new part and the mounting location. Note that the new part has two small edges that will make contact with the wiper arm when the part is plugged in. One seems to be slightly higher than the other. I took that into account when mounting the part as the arm has a small curvature in it.
