I need to remove the fuel rails in the next day or two so I can insulate them. With the rain we are finally getting I need to do this in my garage but i don't want to dump fuel all over the floor. Should I pull fuses 23, 24, and let engine run until fuel in rails is used up?
Fuses 23 and 24 are identified as the fuel pump fuses but DME is also listed for each fuse.
I pull the plug at the fuel pumps and crank her up. You will still have some fuel spillage, but it’s very manageable.

Finally putting intake back together after wrapping the fuel rails with insulation. Hopefully, this insulation, engine head shield, new updated fan design, and air dam deflector will not cause prevent any power loss issues I have been experiencing for some time. Only occurs after driving an hour or two when things begin getting heat-soaked.

Next step alpina rep hood with opened vents?

Yeah! If i could only find another hood I would vent it. There is a fiberglass hood available in the states but the guys said its not a good fit but it does have mold lines in it for venting. I think the hood is about $1500. http://fiberpartsconcepts.com/

I’m going the Engl vents route, probably without the NACA duct. I just need to find someone decent locally to cut and weld them in.
I’ve also read comments about the quality of these vents, but inspecting them up close the build quality seems pretty good.
I can’t comment on the fiberglass hood

Engl hood vents are really expensive, like, 600 euros. And, he has a naca duct that appears to be steel, for $100.
