I finally pulled the trigger on a 2002 S54 for my E36 track car.
First thing I want to is replacing the rod bearings. As it's a <2003 with M11 bolts, I'm planning to re-use the existing bolts. For the bearings, I'm planning to get the BE-Clevite Rod Bearing Set.
Is any of that a bad idea as it's a track car? I.e. should I replace the bolts or get coated bearings (like VAC) instead?
Thanks,
Tim
I'm going with ACL uncoated. Plenty of track cars use them without issue but buy whatever helps you sleep at night.

I used these https://store.langracing.com/acl-rod...mw-e46-m3-s54/
Lang seems to know what they are doing along with a few other builders who recommended the same. Good price as well. Give them a call maybe as they were very helpful when I was deciding the same.
I used WPC treated stock bearings, but looking at the price now @Lang holy cow! Install ARP bolts so you can reuse them.

I did VAC Coated with ARP bolts (reusable). Vanos updates (oil-pump, seals ,etc.). Installed the chain guides (all but that big-ass aluminum one). Several other "while I'm in there" parts.
