    Fuel Pump Damper

    Hi all,

Just replaced all mine fuel lines and the rear along with my pump and filter, and was wondering if this part is needed:

No one that really knows if we need that part has ever commented. Everyone seems to remove them and not have any troubles.

BMW had a reason to install them but we don't know it.

The ones in the fuel line forward of the tank, engine compartment is shown as part number 1:

When you search for that part number today, you get a connection piece, not a damper.

They are different one flow through on the edge and the other a feed into the flat end and tangential discharge but this may have been for use in a particular location.

I'm about to do fuel lines and since my dampers don't leak, I'm sleepless at night trying to decide if I reuse them or just run fuel hose. Fewer fuel hose connections is a plus.

I will be refreshing my fuel lines at some point in the near future, and I plan on eliminating all of the dampers because of this reason.

Mine weren't leaking when I did my lines years ago, so I reused them. If they do start to leak when I put it back on the road, I'll just eliminate them and see what happens, I'm pretty sure the e28 guys have eliminated the under hood ones for years.

Well i finished the lines, and it doesn't seem to change anything. I did find the part here though https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...t/16121152962/
