Brake Lights On.... did a search

2003 330i.... tried the search function but couldn’t find resolution. So when start the car all is well then when you depress the brake pedal brake lights come on and stay on until key off I had a brake light switch code with my cheap handheld so I replaced switch no change. Have checked fuses 9 & 32 no issues there. Have checked trunk wiring no shorts... I unplug tail lights one at at time and that doesn’t change anything when they are plugged back up.
Not sure where to go next because my searches show that those are the main culprits.... any ideas would be helpful.... I do have a code “data filing difference to central light module”.... whatever that is

The signal from the brake light switch goes to the LCM, then on to he brake lights. If you have replaced the brake light switch correctly, then the problem is with the LCM and associated with the code you have.

Is your scanner good enough to read the LCM and see what trouble code it has?

There is only one thing more pleasurable than working on a Z3, that's driving it top down on a fine day.

Unfortunately no.... sounds like a trip to an indie with software for a scan...

I can’t stress this enough. OEM switch, and all will be fine
