Hi all,
I'm new on this group. I will probably be posting lots of questions as this is the first BMW I have owned.
Bought a 97 740i August 2019 in Vegas from a friend of a friend. I love the car.
Had battery go dead in 2 days. Replaced battery with an expensive new one. Made the trip to Indianapolis. Ran like a dream. Parked it and in 2 days, battery was dead and ruined. Replaced it again. In 2 days, dead again. Waited till I had money to get it diagnosed. Exchanged battery and took it to dealership. They said the fuse box was rusted out and it had a water leak, that they found was leaking from the sunroof. They replaced the fuse box, fixed the water leak. $1270. They also pulled 2 fuses and said now the windows, auto door locks and alarm will not work, but there is no more battery drain. I will pick it back up from dealership on Saturday and they said it is now dependable transportation. But to get the items back working (door locks, alarm and windows) will be about another $1700.
Does this sound right to you? Should I take it to another shop that might be more reasonably priced?
Thanks in advance.
You have a BMW E38 and it might be better to ask your question on a forum for that version of the 7-series.
ok, thank you!
