Very low voliume front right door speakers on E82 with Hifi

    Hi all,
Could do with some troubleshooting guidance before I start pulling panels off....

Front right door speaker and tweeter seemed to not be working (however they are actually just really really quiet). If I turn the balance to the right and fade to the front and turn the head unit up loud I can hear music quietly from the front right.

All other speakers (front lefts, rear left and rights + subs are working at what seems to be normal volume). The outcome is the same from CD, Aux and Radio sources.

I have an E82 2008 with the Hifi option (amplifier in the trunk) and factory NAV/CCC. This a RHD vehicle so the low volume speakers are in the drivers side door.

Any help troubleshooting this would be appreciated, I first thought it would be a wiring fault or something but given both the mid and tweeter do have sound (just very quiet) it's making me think it's something else.

The wiring diagrams seem to show that signals for all four channels goes from the head unit to the Hifi amp in the rear, which then goes off to the various speakers around the car.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

I'd suggest that channel of the amplifier unit is/has failing(ed)

To test, you can swap in a known fully working unit

If it is that, then you'll need to find a place that repairs/overhauls them. Speak to my good friends Baris at Carphonics - http://www.carphonics.co.uk/cccaudio.htm He's in North London area. Hopefully he can advise and repair.

If the fault continues after testing with the working amp, you'll need to swap other modules, check wiring etc to continue fault finding

    Cheers, Dennis!

Great suggestions thank you. Turns out it was actually the connection in to the back of the CCC. It was not quite fully locked into place!
