2005 x5-rt rr door will not open

Right rear door unlocks via the switch it the remote, but can not open from the inside nor the outside.
Does not feel as if anything is connected to the handle.
How do I tackle this issue?

Your probably going to have to see if you can take off the door panel while its closed. I may be able to see if I can get in there and see if there is any hardware you can pull on, to get the door open tonight. Very interesting problem. I have not been in the back doors ever but I am sure it is as easy as taking out a few screws and pulling it with a plastic pry bar. The question is if there is a screw down low below the seat. In that case the rear seat is suppose to be easy to remove from what I have read. On the front door, you have to remove the fake wood inset attachment to get to one of the screws.

Same issue with my X5 I used a spatula to open the door and after I took the panel off and changed the inside door handle that had broken plastic part. Look at few videos that showed how to use the spatula..sorry I did not make one.

Did you have to take the back seat out to remove the for panel?
Do you have the past number of the busted part?

    Plot thickens.
I went to YouTube to see how the panel comes off. It doesn't seem do able with back seat in, but decided to try anyway.
First thing I did was pull the wood trim piece off.
I expected to find the white plastic piece at the handle broken; it was not.
Wife said try pushing on the door. I said the handle on inside nor outside seemed connected to anything. Then I operated the remote a number of times.
The mechanism was now connected somehow. I operated it at least 15 times and it worked.
So now I am thinking nothing was broken, just maybe stuck from non use?

Are the child locks switch on so the kids can’t open it from the inside?.
