E65 No chimes and NO Audio modules detected

    Hi guys,

A couple of weeks ago I bought an "abandoned" 2003 745i.
It was garaged for 5-6 years due to a transmission problem in a very hot and humid area.

The only issue I still can't figure out is why there is no sound at all.

This is how I got it:

    - Dead battery
    - Central display not working or just flickering
    - CDC constantly making noises and stuck cartridge
    - No sound and chimes

This is what I have done so far:

    - New 95ah AGM battery
    - Used central display coded to my vehicle's specs
    - Disconnected the lollipop to reset the MOST at no avail
    - Checked for optical signal and power and ground at CD/ASK , CDC, AMP and TCU (all ok)
    - Haven't checked radio module yet

My central display lets me control the AC but nothing else. CD and CDC are greyed out, AM/FM and video are selectable but nothing happens. On board computer and service info show no data and time and date can't be adjusted.

My scanner doesn't communicate with any of these modules, only the central display. All others appear as if they needed to be installed.

I think that the problem could be the main CD/ask unit as it is seems to be the first unit in the loop. Is this true?

Any advise would be greately apreciated!

    Hi Trusty,

I have finally ordered a couple of fiber optics loops on amazon (quite inexpensive indeed) and I am going to loop every single unit on the most. This seems to be a common problem but it usually affects only audio and not car info data. I will be able to tell you more next week after I test all the components.

Have you scanned your car? If so, do your modules also appear offline or are you able to diagnose them?

Hi, did you ever get a solution to this as I have exactly this problem. I tried so many times to loop to by pass certain modules and nothing worked
The only thing left is the head unit or changer but honestly I'm left with not much ideas

I have a 2003 745i. Bought the car from a little old lady in Nevada for $700, I experienced these same issues with the cracking through the speakers and sound cutting in and out. Had to also change the H8 that was replaced with a 2021 H9. Problem seemed to be solved, however after remaining the Nav Deck in the trunk I noticed the Navi display and a few a other options ceased to exist. Radio, heater, DVD player and cell phone. So I realized the lollipop was kinked behind the rear seat and poof! Problem solved.
