Thinking of selling my 650i
Ive got a 2006 650i 6-speed manual. Dark Blue on Black. Has M6 Carbon fiber interior trim. This is my daily driver. It's a nice car but it has some issues. Nothing serious but I have so many other car projects (rebuilding my 95 Mazda RX-7) that I just don't have time to deal with it. I have a old beater Ford excursion also that I use to pull my car hauler, go on camping trips, and to haul things around. I live downtown Indianapolis in a historic neighborhood and the Excursion doesn't really fit (size wise) in my neighborhood. We are building a garage in the spring and I am pretty certain the excursion wouldn't be able to make the turn from the alley. I was thinking about getting a 2008 Cadillac Escalade as a replacement for the 650i and the Excursion. I would guess a 12 year old Escalade would have similar problems as my 650i and Excursion but would probably be easier to fix than issues with the 650i. The Escalade would fit in the garage and wouldn't be as cumbersome as the Excursion.
I am also considering maybe doing a little fix up on the 650i and just living with the 650i and the excursion (I keep the excursion at a friends house 20min away).
So here is what the 650i needs.
Oil pan gasket replaced - (I have the parts but its a pretty involved job to get the pan off due to the subframe is in the way and lots of things seem to be attached to the subframe, I have basically all the gaskets, valve covers, timing covers, oil pan ready to go.)
It's going to need valve stem seals (will puff some smoke if i sit with it running for over 5min, has new PCV valves, can take care of this if i do the oil pan gasket)
The rear sunroof cover is stuck back in the headliner.
The head liner is starting to come off on the A-pillars and C-pilars - (Was thinking about replacing the headliner with some micro suede or alcantara if I am in there trying to fix the sun roof. I can do that myself for under $100)
My paint has some fading on the drivers side that i can get to shine back up with a buff but that only lasts so long (For this I don't really have a fix in mind)
I had an issue where some water got in the car from the cowl drains in the engine bay and it crapped out my footwell module, i replaced that but I still have the "start off assist inactive" error I need to figure out.
I think I can sell the car as is for $7000 locally. I know its worth more if I fix everything but that will take some time on my part. Car has 136,815 miles on it.
Ok enough rambling.
