DASHBOARD LIGHTS OUT
I have a 2003 bmw 325xi.
dashboard lights went out & only light is for ABS.
took it to my mechanic and he checked all fuses and couldn’t find anything.
he thinks I will have to bring to BMW dealership.
any ideas before I go spend major bucks st dealership?
It could be the lighting control module (LKM), the module which is to the left if the steering wheel.
How hard is it to replace and would anyone know the cost ?
much appreciated
Who knows how the answer costs help
First, I’d try to recode the LKM. Send a PM to BaliDawg. He can code it over the internet for free if you have the proper software. He can help you set up the software in your computer (either a laptop or a desktop with a looooong extension cords(!)). I’d pull the LKM to get the BMW part number in case you need to get to a junk yard to find a used one. It’ll need to be coded to your car as the LKM holds the miles driven data.
Go to www.realoem.com and enter the last 7 characters of your car’s VIN. Hit enter and bookmark the page. Scroll down to vehicle electrical systems. Scroll waaay down to switch unit, light. Find the part # for the LKM there. Click on it to see what other models use the same part #.
Thank you, will try your recommendation
did you ever fix this problem? My friend has the same problem I think!
