Looking for recommendations:

What's the easiest way to add Apple CarPlay to my 2018 230i xDrive Convertible?

BMW ConnectedDrive says it is not available for my car because:
"These features 6NW (Wireless Charging), 6NP (Enhanced USB and Bluetooth), or 6NS (Smartphone Integration / Enhanced USB and Bluetooth) must be embedded in the vehicle from factory. Apple CarPlay is not eligible for this vehicle."

I have a 430i convertible (F33 LCI) I'm looking into a company called Easy USB Coding. The software is delivered by email and only costs $54.99 plus an ENET Cable.. (Lifetime Carplay Activation + Fullscreen Activation – EasyUSBcoding ) I'll also have to buy and install a wifi antenna. I have two concerns. First, will the software work, and can it mess up the current factory software? Second, Getting to the back of the radio to install the wifi antenna seems like a big project with lots of opportunities to make mistakes. Has anyone done this, and how difficult is it?

I have a 2018 430i, but not X-drive. I got the same message about Apple CarPlay. Did you try to install it? What method did you use and were you successful?

Hi,

Just wanted to say I had all the same concerns as you. However, I’m confident you can do it. Just have all the tools and everything prepared for when you decide to tackle each part.

I successfully installed the wifi antenna and had someone remotely install the software for me (due to the software in my 2018 2 series I couldn’t install via usb).

I’m not a car person at all (as in I have never changed oil or anything) and managed to do it all. You can do it, just take your time so you don’t break anything.
