2005 645ci Convertible Top Malfunction

Anyone had issues with a "Top Not Locked" notification? Its definitely locked and now it won't retract. I've disconnected the battery and checked the fuses. Fuses are fine and the battery disconnect didn't reset anything like I'd hoped. Any ideas on how to fix or reset? Thanks!

Don't know if this is the same as my 2010, but there is a utube video showing rubbing the sensor above the driver side passenger window in the top wing which turns off the red malfunction light for the top, this worked for me without getting it readjusted a few times now.

cable running under soft top from back to front, cracks/fractures/breaks just above rear side window... interfering with the two position sensors at the front of the soft top... BOOM!
