Had my 745Li (long wheel base) sitting in my driveway for a few months and started it the other day and I got a whole bunch of errors on the cluster
The PRNDL was just flashing on the dash and the gear image was in the cluster saying Trans fail safe and something about the ebrake release before being towed to fix the issue and it would not shift into any gear !
Last time I drove this it was mint with no CELs or errors other than the EDC for the broken height sensor
I assume my trans error is just cause the battery is nearly flat ?
I put it on the trickle charger just to be safe

I own mostly junk. Except the Porsche, that's kind of cool.
All the motorcycles are trash which you can read about at

I'll update it eventually

It's very likely, but the only way to know for sure is by reading the diagnostic fault codes.

Charge and load test the battery if it's more than 4 years old replace it, this car has high electrical demands and it all starts with the battery, if the old battery is a lead acid version up grade it to an Agm battery and the battery has to be coded to the car also if the car is going to sit a lot put a battery tender on the car finally if you open the trunk pull back th trim cover on the passenger side you will see a large fuse box stick your head in there and look up at the top of the panel ther is a battery switch it's ther so if the car sits a lot and the switch is on it limits the amount of electrical draw by turning off certain systems
