License light

The right side license is out on my 97 e31. It’s not the bulb. I am assuming it is a bad ground. Anyone have this issue before?

I anticipate it is broken wire in the wiring harness at the trunk hinge pivot point.
The more the trunk is opened the greater the wiring fatigue.
Common problem with the E31 as the wiring harness on both sides of the trunk caused excess bending of the individual wires and eventually the wires fatigue and break.
My 1997 had a licence plate and a tail light out.
Exposing the individual wires (PITA) in the harness sleeving will show several fatigued and broken wires.
I spliced in new vinyl insulation wire, that I had on hand, and called it a day.
Best solution would be to splice in a high strand count wire with silicone insulation.
